Government, companies and organizations in Sweden
The Swedish public power is described on www.riksdagen.se (The Parliament) and www.regeringen.se (The Government). On these homepages you also find links to ministries and authorities like The Swedish Rescue Agency and the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority www.fi.se These organizations have links to international organizations in their sphere of activity. On The International Association of Insurance Supervisors you find e.g. The FSA in Canada.
Almost all industry organizations are members of an international organization. On the Comité Europeén des Assurances homepage you can find the addresses to e.g. The Swedish Insurers’ Federation and The Association of British Insurers. On Bureau International des Producteurs d’Assurances et de Réassurances (BIPAR) you find Internet addresses to e.g. The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) and The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers in the US. The Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA) is the UK training center for Independent Loss adjusters. Bund Technischer Experten (BTE) is a German organisation for Independent Loss Adjusters. The Federation of Loss Adjusting Experts (FUEDI) is an association for national loss adjusting associations from at present seven EU-countries.
Visit also some players on the market (e.g. where our experts are employed, the largest Swedish insurance groups, other infrastructural elements, international counterparts etc.) Skandia is a world leading Swedish insurance group. Very successful in unit linked. (You will meet lectures from Skandia during the seminar). IF used to be a part of Skandia and is now a leading non-life insurance company on the Scandinavian insurance market. Länsförsäkringar was a federation of the largest agricultural insurers in Sweden. Today they underwrite almost all insurance classes and have started a bank of their own. You will visit them while in Stockholm. Folksam is the leading Swedish insurance company for the blue collar workers’ labour union and the co-operative movement.

Training and education
IFU utbildning AB (The Swedish Insurance Academy) does the training of many Swedish insurance professionals.
The Chartered Insurance Institute is a UK based insurance trainer with affiliates in the former colonies. In the US The College of Insurance recently merged with St. John’s University and will be renamed to The School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science (SRM). The Insurance Education Foundation in the US support teachers training for high-school students.
Mass Media etc.
A specific role is played by the mass media, databases and libraries. Learn how to use their search system and you will have access to interesting market information. You could visit e.g. Lloyds List Australia Financial Times, Reuters (you need a password and a subscription but we will show you some examples in March 2001) and the Swedish library search system www.libris.kb.se
Publishers companies
Whitherby & Company Limited is one of the most well-known publisher of English insurance literature. Swiss Re, The CII and The College of Insurance also publish insurance books.

The International Security Association (ISSA) is an organization for the public sector security system.
The Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute www.vti.se is an example of a loss prevention organization within road safety.
The National Institute for Working Life is a Swedish state agency working with loss prevention concerning occupational health.
